ShadeDeck Sanctuary in Lakewood, New Jersey

A beautiful single-story home in Lakewood, New Jersey, with a large sun-exposed deck required an outdoor shade solution that could also function as a Sukkah during Sukkos. Executive Pergolas installed a 34-by-18-foot aluminium pergola with sleek black square posts and a corded, manually operated, ultra-easy-to-use retractable pleated roof. The roof is rain-resistant, with engineered pleats that channel water to the garden, and retracts neatly under a protective pelmet when not in use. Motorised blockout mesh ScreenWalls fully enclose the pergola for Sukkos and year-round enjoyment, while one manual wall serves as a doorway for Shabbos and Sukkos. Timber beams with pre-drilled grooves were provided to assemble the Sukkah in minutes without tools, and are removed after the Yom Tov. The result is a striking, functional, and elegant outdoor space that transforms into a Sukkah in minutes while keeping the rain out during the Yom Tov.
